Flee market finds this week was interesting!, loved getting together all the bargains and different objects which interetsed individual people. i really enjoyed putting the composition together for this one, with rustic colours and a flat guache background.  Painted in a different way to which id ever done before to! i used a dotting texture, i found using this technique really gave these objects a 3d touch!

painted using watercolour, with lashes of pencil and guache to add depth and colour.

CV POSTING

So here I'm meant to post my cv, I've tried my hardest to put one of these together. I'm finding it really hard to talk about the things I'm good at !. Ive never had to make a creative cv before so i found this a challenge in itself!

I started off by talking about myself and what I'm doing currently,  which i found flowed quite easily as its what I'm doing now. When i got onto talking about previous work experiences to.. i also found that easy enough to write saying what i was doing and when.

Ive always been told to show off your best assets to the world. but writing these down on paper was hard, i didn't want to make myself look big headed or anything, but needed to release a section on my skills and qualities, not just creatively but logical people skills to.

Overall i was happy with the progress i made on this cv and will be happy to show it to anyone who would like to have a look :) for any feedback or comments :)

CV'S LETTERS AND EMAIL'S

Forgot to post this little task we did one week at uni, we spoke in groups about what language you would and would'nt put in professional letters and emails, formal and unformal, it was great working in a team and getting everyone else's opinion. we also looked at how you would lay out the information.  heres the verdict. -   Also we took time to put together a sheet of information to help with a creative cv, what needs to be and what doesn't. it was really good and reflective for the class to do this as we all had different ideas and different answers for what we should and shouldn't have, having a tutors point of view really helped us see the professional side between the two different contacts.

Trend bible.

Trend bible are a successful trends company based in Newcastle. Trend bible, have a multi cultural influence from all over the world, with individual components and additives. Trend style are the only company who offer a children's trend book, this is a great thing for designers as they know whats up and coming in a younger generation. Trend books are seen to be an essential within the industry to prepare companies for big future changes. They also predict the up and coming trends, within interiors. e.g the next upcoming colours and patterns.

this is one of their new 2013 summer botanical trends.

fell in love with this trend taken from their 2013/2014 children's trend! love the mix of colours.

Home made trends?

Reaearching trends and found this really interesting app for my iphone! 'Polyvore' this app is used for live feeds of new trends or what is seen to be a trend by an individual person, here people can create trend setting pages for others to see world wide. You can also click on the individual item of clothing or interior that you like which you will then be told the price and where you can go on to purchase the item. Although this is'nt form a big company i feel like its relevant to what i have been looking at, on a more personal point of view, heres a few examples of what is posted daily!

TRENDS -WGSN

Looking at trends today! WGSN  holds many different styles, trends and colour directions throughout their website their phillosophy is to provide a range of trends for the up and coming years to provide to large companies all over the world. When looking i found  instantly drawm to this up and coming trend filled with  pretty colour's used in for the S/S 15 Junior Girls' Macro Trend. I find the dark undertones throughout each colour interesting (giving them a musky feel), meaning the colours are bright yet do not have the 'straight from the tin look' . i also really like the way the Pantone strip is situated at the bottom of the page to show the exact colour and code shown in the photos.

Joules.

Joules as a company isn't normally a company i'd associate with stationary and giftware. But when looking properly i've found this new collection by joules and i LOVE it. i see joules as a professional fashion company, and see this as a nice little extra. I really like the contrasting colour palates with the bright block colours to create the horse/animal and floral motifs.  heres my favourites..

oh and i've also included some gorgeous interior soft furnishing designs.

ENJOY.

Laura Lees.

hi everyone, looking for interesting makers and designers to do with giftware today, looking at Laura lees i found i've been instantly drawn to her playful colour schemes filled with child like drawings. her work gives a qwerky edge to the typical gift products you might see. making them more appealing to a wider audience. Laura makes a varied range of products ranging from gift, home wear, accessories and kids toys.Although all these products are very different they all hold similar qualities and are easy distinguishable.
heres some of the work of hers i find most interesting, including gift.

a little glimpse of what i've been doing in the studio today! getting right into this one! love the pretty outcomes i had created within layout by suspending some of the objects, and placing them onto cartridge paper to create an interesting composition, then photographing the sets to then draw from. Looking closely at detail ill be back with updated photos of the work i've produced from these photographs!
